TekStack Project Grid
The TekStack Project Grid located in the “Project” tab on both project and project template records was introduced in TekStack Release v2026.1 and provides users with a simplified and faster method of updating critical project task data like dates, status, budget, and resources in one place, all while maintaining access to the complete project task form with the click of a button. Project managers and resources who do not often reference the Gantt chart section of the original TekStack project schedule are likely to find the project grid easier to reference.
Note that the ability to drag/drop project tasks and edit dates in the grid is no longer available on the original Schedule (see Schedule tab). Users are encouraged to use the Project Grid “Move Rows” and 'Quick Edit" features reviewed in this article.
Task Creation
From the “Project” tab, check the box next to the task you want to add a task or milestone to.
Task Definitions:
Sibling Task = an independent task that does not roll up to the selected task. These tasks follow an integer formatted numbering sequence (1, 2, etc.)
Child Task = a task that is dependent on and rolls up to the selected task. A child task can only be added to a task that is not resourced. Child tasks follow a decimal formatted numbering sequence (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, etc.)
Milestone = cannot be resourced to anyone and time entry is not permitted. These are used to mark a significant billing event (completed billing milestones are processed for invoicing in TekStack Revenue) or a significant project deliverable.
Task Quick Edit:
Click the pencil icon on the task to launch the project task quick edit pop-up.
The quick edit pop-up loads instantly and allows project managers to quickly update project task details that are often edited such as the name, the dates, the status and budget. The display lays out budget and hours details in a calculation-style format for ease of understanding. The pop-up also provides a multi-select field for task resources, majorly simplifying the resourcing process.
The date field contains both start and end date within a single field, allowing PMs to set both dates at once in a single calendar. Start date, end date, and current date are highlighted on the calendar.
Multiple resources can be resourced to a task at once in a single field. Note that advanced resource management like re-distributing hours must be done via the full project task edit form.
When changes are saved, the project grid immediately refreshes automatically.
The access the full project task edit form, click on the eye icon on the project task and allow a moment for the complete form to load.
Once loaded, the resource will see the complete project edit form where associated WBS records are managed, resource remaining hours distribution is maintained, and historical details are provided.
Project tasks can be re-arranged on the project grid by clicking the “Move Rows” button and dragging/dropping the tasks to their desired locations. There is also an indent/outdent option available.
