Before you can add Products to an Opportunity you'll need to set up Products, Families, Classifications, Units and Price Lists.
When you add products to opportunities important information like the price, the name of the product, type of product and invoicing schedule auto-populates. This takes the guesswork and manual calculations out of the process and makes things easier for your team while also creating consistent and reportable data in TekStack.
After creating an Opportunity, here's how to add a product (or multiple products):
Navigate to the Products and Services tab on the Opportunity and click the Add button to launch the New Opportunity Line form. Ensure a price list is selected and then choose the product to add. Start typing the name of the product in the field to filter the result set, or press Enter to view a list of products for the selected price list.
When a product is selected, the form expands and additional fields, many pre-populated, are exposed.
The pre-populated fields are based on the settings on the Product record (see Products in TekStack Configure area if permissions allow). Many of these values can be edited (price, discount, quantity, some invoice/subscription details). Several fields are tied directly to the product selected and cannot be edited (unit, subscription flag). These fields are marked with a lock symbol.
Note that the options available in the invoice and subscription fields and the defaults that appear in the fields are based on settings pulled from the Product record (Configure area).
Save and Close once all fields are configured correctly.
After saving and closing, the product appears as an opportunity line in the grid on the Products and Services tab with price, quantity, and total amount included.
Click on the opportunity line name to open the record to review and/or make edits. The edit form has several tabs including information on pricing, the product, and the product terms. Several fields - particularly on the Pricing tab - can be edited prior to closing the opportunity. Fields with system-calculated values, or that contain values pulled from other sources (product, account, etc.) cannot be edited and are flagged with a lock symbol.
