Project Classifications allow you to sort by type of project. Each classification has default settings that are automatically set up when you choose the classification. For example, you can create a classification for internal projects that defaults time entries as non-billable. Another type of project might allow only the project manager to approve time entries.
Why classify a project?
Classifying your projects allows you to analyze the types of projects you are doing. You can gather metrics to see what types of projects you are successfully delivering and what types might need some adjustment. For example, analysis of profitable versus unprofitable projects, issues about resource management, etc.
Typical project classifications might include Implementation, Marketing as a Service, or Managed Services.
