The Update Schedule tool was introduced in TekStack Release v2026.1. It provides the ability for users to export a project schedule to Excel, make bulk changes (add/remove tasks, edit dates, edit budget hours, assign resources) and import the updated file back into TekStack to process and save the changes to the project schedule.

Access the Update Schedule

Click the menu icon (hamburger menu) in the ribbon on the project record and select Update Schedule.

The schedule export/import wizard will load. Select to download the Excel file. This is a representation of the current project schedule in TekStack.

Make Updates in Excel

Make any and all changes to the project schedule in the Excel file. Edits can be made to existing tasks in any of the provided columns. Up to 3 resources can be added to project tasks. Additional tasks can be added. If tasks are removed from the spreadsheet they will be deleted in TekStack when the updated scheduled is imported back in.

Adding Sibling vs. Child Tasks

A numbering sequence must be used in the “WBS ID” column so that the system understands how to configure the project tasks on the schedule when importing back into TekStack. Just like in TekStack, sibling tasks are identified with an integer format and child tasks are identified with a decimal format.

In the following example, Task 8 and Task 9 have been added to the Excel file. Task 8 is a sibling task and Task 9 is a child task to task 8 (budget and time entry will roll up to task 8).

Import the Updated Schedule into TekStack

Save your changes in Excel and navigate back to the project in TekStack. Re-open the Update Schedule tool. Select to upload a document, pick the file from the browser and click save. The upload will take a moment to complete (the more updates to process, the longer the processing time). A success message will be displayed once completed correctly.

Note that there is error handling built in to display errors for the majority of issues a user could run into, such as a required field missing, an invalid format used, a date sequence not making sense, etc.

Click OK on the success message to return to the project in TekStack and see the imported updates.
