Create task dependencies to help keep your project organized. It creates a visual to show you which work items are connected and will send a Teams notification when the dependent task is completed. Here’s how to set up a task dependency. 

 


 

  1. Click the Task that will be dependent on another. Go to the Dependencies tab. 

  1. Click the + icon to add a new dependency. 


     

  1. In the Predecessor Task field, search for the task that must come before this one. 

  1. Click Save
     



Now when you look at the project schedule, the dependent task will be automatically scheduled after the one that it’s dependent on. If you move or reschedule the predecessor task, the successor task will move with it.
