Accurate time tracking helps your project team to better plan and estimate future projects. Even if you aren’t billing that time to a client, it’s still important to record non-billable time. Billable time, of course, is what gets invoiced on Time & Materials project. No need to explain why that’s important.

Here you’ll learn how to use the Non-Billable setting in a User Story or Task to log time for a User without showing that information to a client.

  1. Click the User Story or Task within the Project and go to the Time tab.

  1. Click the + icon to add a new Time Entry.

  1. In the Non-Billable field, select Yes or No. If set to Yes, the Time Entry that is logged will not be billed to the client, which is helpful for internal work items or time tracking. If set to No, the Time Entry will be billed to the client if the project is classified as a Time & Materials project.

You can set the default time entries to be billable or non-billable based on the project classification. Read this to find out how.
